MATCHA LATTE

There isn’t hint of bitterness in this blissfully creamy tea. The powdery Matcha makes a bubbly froth when whipped and imparts a pale green tinge to this easy-to-make choco-rich latte.

You will need:

350ml plain sweetened Almond milk

15g white chocolate

2 tsp Matcha Powder ( https://threespoons.ie/shop/tea/green-tea/organic-premium-japan-matcha-powder/ )

120ml water heated to 80C

electric hand whisk

Preparation:

  1. Heat the milk and chocolate in a saucepan on a medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture simmers and becomes creamy. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  2. whisk the Matcha powder and hot water in a bowl to form the thin paste. Add the hot milk and chocolate mixture and whisk briskly until foamy. Pour into cups.
  3. SERVE IT: Garnich with a pinch of Matcha powder and serve hot

COCONUT MATCHA

Naturally sweet and creamy, this smoothie is a great afternoon pick-me-up. The coconut cream brings healthy fatty acids to the mix, while the avocados provide a good dose of potassium and vitamins K and C

You will need:

8 tbsp coconut flakes

1/2 ripe avocado

1 tsp Matcha powder ( https://threespoons.ie/shop/tea/green-tea/organic-premium-japan-matcha-powder/ )

120ml chilled coconut cream

240ml chilled coconut water

hand blender

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C ( Gas 4 ). Place the coconut flakes in the middle of oven tray and toast for about 4 min until golden brown
  2. Place the flakes in a blender along with the remaining ingredients and blend until creamy
  3. SERVE IT: Serve in chilled glasses with a straw

ICED HONEY LEMON MATCHA

This iced Matcha tea is as green as chlorophyll. You can use a confectioner’s grade of matcha too, which is not too expensive as the higher grades. The honey will add sweetness and the lemon juice will brighten the flavour

You will need:

5 tsp Honey

1 tbsp lemon juice, plus a little of lemon zest

500ml water heated to 80C

1 1/2 tsp Matcha powder

ice cubes

Preparation:

  1. Place the honey, lemon juice and zest with half of hot water in a jug
  2. Put Matcha powder in a separate bowl and add the remaining hot water. Whisk Matcha in a ‘W’ motion to form a thin paste. Add the rest of hot water and whisk until some froth begins to form on the surface
  3. SERVE IT: Pour the Matcha mix into the jug, stir, and serve in tumblers filled with ice cubes
